Nick studied physics at Cambridge University and then obtained a D.Phil from Sussex University for studies of radio wave propagation in conducting gases. In 1977 he started working at BBC Research and Development and has worked in many areas related to broadcasting including image compression, file formats for production, digital radio cameras and more recently new digital modulation schemes. Nick has long experience of leading international and European projects and standardisation activities. Recently, Nick was the chair of the Professional MPEG Forum and is currently chairing the DVB TM-T2 group as well as being a vice chairman of the DVB Technical Module.
