Dmitry Tkachenko is Head of Research and Development at Mighty Apparatus for Radio Broadcasting and TV Joint-Stock Company (MART), a major manufacturer of terrestrial TV and radio broadcasting equipment in Russia. He has an engineering degree in Radio Physics and Electronics from St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPbSPU) and a Ph.D. in Radio Engineering and Television Systems from St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications. Before joining MART he had been working at SPbSPU as research engineer, scientist and associate professor. In 2000 – 2007 he led a number of research collaboration projects between SPbSPU and the Panasonic Digital Networking Laboratory (Princeton) in the field of interactive digital television and home networks.

Dmitry is the author of about 70 technical research papers and publications and more than 10 patents. He took an active part in the organization of a number of broadcasting conferences and workshops in Russia. He was founder and Technical Program Chair of the CSTB conference and has fulfilled various roles in the IEEE (Chair of the IEEE Northwest Russia Broadcast Technology Joint Chapter, member of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society Administrative Committee, reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting and for a number of IEEE conferences).
