Alix's team keeps the BBC on-air, 24/7, across the UK. It also advises the BBC Executive on future broadcast distribution strategy and turns future technologies into a reality. For example, BBC Distribution drove the launch of DVB-T2 in the UK, working in partnership with regulator Ofcom, Arqiva, Freeview, ITV, Channel 4 and S4/C, to bring the first HD channels to the DTT platform in time for the World Cup.

Alix Pryde started her career as a physicist, completing a PhD in theoretical physics at the University of Cambridge. She joined McKinsey & Co as a strategy consultant then became Head of Development for commercial radio company The Wireless Group plc. Alix joined the BBC nine years ago and has held the positions 00of Head of Strategy for BBC Radio and for BBC News before taking up her current position, reporting to BBC COO Caroline Thomson, in March 2009.
